“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

June 6-11

National Puppetry Convention

On line this year.

This one is for those of you who are professional builders (or want to be), although it is pretty enjoyable and educational for everyone.

The National Puppetry Conference provides a meeting and creating ground for master artisans to pass their craft and ingenuity to new artists in the field of puppetry. Each June, participants gather from across the globe to create works that defy the bounds of contemporary theater and the imagination.

July 5-9

International Puppetry & Creative Arts Convention

Olivet Nazarene University, IL

Not going to lie, this one is a little pricy, but worth it for what you get and the cool thing is that you only need to put down a non refundable $25 deposit to secure your spot and your registration allows you to gift a free registration to someone from another ministry.

"I-Fest", is a unique 5-day event which celebrates and promotes the use of creative arts to spread the Gospel. A wide variety of workshops are offered covering topics such as puppetry, ventriloquism, stick ministry, gospel illusions, balloon twisting, human video, and many more. Some workshops will be offering hands-on training covering performance and puppet construction techniques.

July 14-17

Venthaven ConVENTion

Erlanger, KY

Things are starting to get back on track. After cancelling last year's event, they are coming back this year better than ever with some big name ventriloquists ad all new classes and lectures.

Unfortunately, prior obligations keeps me from making it this year, but if you get a chance, it is an amazing experience.

Feature Creature

Green Monkey

Alright, so I have dropped the ball on this one and haven't given him a name yet. I haven't even worked up a voice or character for him either. I want to but him in a suit and give him a CEO type attitude for some reason though.

This is a puppet that I converted from a damaged stuff animal from the thrift store that was about to be thrown away.

I seriously only rebuilt the face and it is an awesome light weight puppet to work with.
